What's the benefit of playing "New Age" AQW?

I understand, people play and "play" it for fun, others just to show off their high-tier items.
Where's the real fun in playing this new age of AQW, think about starting as of late, the entire
game is (about to be?) a decade old with a decade of content available, a high percentage blocked off or deleted.

Why you ask? Because I'm looking into investing my time into this dress-up mmorpg again.

There's no benefit since most of the important/useful stuff is locked behind either pay-walls or the times played badge shops.

Everyone is subjected to their own opinion, maybe that's how you see others, but truth be told majority of the people who are playing Aqw right now can no longer be considered as children who are still 12 years old or 13 rather, they are already young adults so everyone has different reasons for playing the game. If you'll ask me why I still play the game, maybe it's because of the memoirs it gave in the past, and the taste of nostalgia which makes it fun.

So if I were you, it's better not to mind others, because it'll only give you displeasure.

That's literally the entire post of this thread, I don't care for the 20, 30 or older players, I just ask why you play to this day.

    Because of the "rares".
I won't even bother with making a new account if I still have access to my old accounts.

If I lost my old accounts then I drop this game forever.

    1. I remember in the past being somewhat interested in the multiple storylines that AQW had, with their blatant 4th-wall breaking and occasional lore tidbits.

I guess now I'm just waiting to see where those stories leads off to. I remember originally making an account in recent times because I wanted to see how the 13 lords of chaos ended.

    2. The aqw artistry is nice to see.

In the past they were more like a monarchy. The best items with the best artistry go to the people who bought it. The rest of the player-base gets simplistic items.

Nowadays, they are more socialist. Most items a free2play person obtains is better than what they could obtain in the past (Take for example the deadly dragons storyline. They drop full ac-tagged sets. Those sets are also, as far as I'm aware, seem to have more effort put into them than dropped items of the past that I'm aware of. Little to no reagent-farming is required. If someone botted or just took their time farming, they could obtain those sets relatively quick.). However, none of the items nowadays are as good as the good ones in the past.

Welp, I guess just as the other guy said if your acc is already old and you have a lot of rares, it's more of a collectors rarity gameplay. So I guess if you'll ask me first of all, of course, I go for the rare after all you can just do the bank glitch, secondly if you have smurf accs like mine I just keep on farming classes. And lastly botters tend to be loners in the past and I myself am a loner, but I'm not sure if it is still the same as now.

I play every now and then just because when I was like 12 I found this on my shitty PC and couldn't run anything else - to this day I still enjoy hopping on every now and then to play through events and see what new items I can add into my collection.

I lost my main account ages back. I came back to the game full time recently and have mainly spent my time seeing how good of a character I can make without spending money. No idea if you will have any interest, but this is the stuff I have my eyes set on for now:

    • Void Highlord
    • Nulgath Nation House
    • All reps and rep classes
    • Juggernauts
    • As many character page badges as possible
    • idk

I'll probably just pick up any non member crap along the way from events and whatever else I see that tickles my fancy. Once I've farmed up all this stuff and start getting bored, I might just pump a ton of money in to make the account worth something, but considering the account I lost before, I'm pretty hesitant of sending any money AE's way.

If you're talking in terms of rare stuff that may be marketable in the future, don't worry AE pumps an absolute shit load of AC garbage constantly. Just get any "going rare" Nulgath items, dage items and classes.

I actually have this exact plan, but it's pretty difficult to do some things when you're free2play.

I agree, I think there is about 30 or so you can currently get as a non-member.

The three nulgath sets(Void Paladin, spartan and destroyer) are also worth it i guess.(for a free player)

I actually took a look at those, given the requirements, (and being a botter) they not only look cool, but something to farm.

    Same as this.
Trying to farm as heavy items as I can. Seeing as AQW is far more of a grind for the high end gear than it was. Even with botting imo
