    Calves always get sore

whether its running or just jogging my calves constantly get sore and pretty fast (within a couple minutes of jogging)

what can i do to prevent this, and what supplements should i be taking?
i started taking iron and about 20g of protein but what other supplements are best to remedy this?
    multivitamins? what else?

This may stem from genetics. If you find that your calves are always sore without doing any hypertrophy work, it may be because you have a short achilles tendon. This tends to cause tightness in your soleus and gastrocnemius and leads to your calves overcompensating due to the shortness of the tendon. I recommend doing remedial stretches to stretch out your calves before doing strenuous activity.

Taking specific supplements isn't going to suddenly help one part of your body that is always sore. Just stick to eating well and taking protein if you find that you're lacking.

If you find that you tend to walk on your tippy toes a lot or that your calves seem to be constantly tense when you're walking around normally, it's probably the case (of you having a short achilles). If this is indeed the case, do stretches every day, in the morning, before exercise and at night. This should help ease the tension and keep you more limber. It won't ever go away because it's just how your body is but you can ease the symptoms.

Stretch. One of the most important methods for preventing calf pain is stretching. Stretching before and after all workouts helps repair and strengthen the calf, thereby preventing future pain and injury. Make sure you have enough time to rest between workouts to help facilitate this muscle repair and growth.

if its during your training its most likley because you are running incorectly and putting stress on the calves. if its after training you just need to train more often.
