Allow Both 1.4 and 1.3 Users To Connect To Your CraftBukkit [556] Server

Zidonuke on the Bukkit forum created this, I am just reposting it here for your use.

Almost no plugins are compatible with 602+ at the moment, and it's difficult to get an entire user base to downgrade their client. My server's solution to this was to use a custom build of CraftBukkit 556 that allows both client versions to connect to the server. Your server will not have any of the new updates, but I think having all your plugins for a few more days is much more important than having wolves. Download the attached file, and replace your existing Bukkit jar with the one I provided. All 556 compatible plugins will work.

My server is also running this for the time being, but I don't need a ton of MPGH people running around in there. I know how you guys are.

I think it was a mis-wording. I do believe you are supposed to connect to the server with the address he gives: mc.zidonuke.com

Build 556 is the last fully compatible build for plugins, and they totally broke plugins with 602, just a day before 1.4 was released. With the release of 1.4, everybody was forced to update to a 1.4 compatible version of Bukkit, thus breaking almost all their plugins.

Bukkit 556 (MC 1.3): All plugins are fully compatible, working fine.
Bukkit 602 (MC 1.3): Breaks nearly every plugin; plugin developers working on fixes, users waiting for plugin updates.
Bukkit 610 (MC 1.4): Initial 1.4 release. Plugins must be compatible with 602 changes to work; most are still being updated.
Unofficial Bukkit 556 (MC 1.4): Allows 1.4 clients to connect to a server running 1.3 with all compatible plugins. Allows admins to wait for most/all of their plugins (WorldGuard (VERY important) still hasn't updated) to be compatible with 602+
