can steam do group chats?

I highly doubt that when everyone is trading they need to get a steam account....

But on the other hand, steam don't save chat history(or they do?)

Steam does have group chat. Nearly everyone uses it, i don't see why it'd be a problem. Basically as easy as creating a skype account.
