Malwarebytes and Avast is ideal if your computer isn't a toaster. Else I'd just use Malwarebytes, but if you don't/cant find a crack for it then Avast is definitely better because of their web protection. Although on the other hand malwarebytes has a lot more bad ip addresses that it has in a db to deny access to your computer from.
And ASC Pro also has a very light Web Protection, it works just as good as Avasts imo, but malwarebytes still has the malicious IP protection which is really good for shitty vulnerable networks.
Also since you're on windows 8, why not upgrade to windows 10? The security problems are way over exaggerated, just block all of the microsoft domains in the hosts file and disable all obvious options you want turned off. Windows Defender for windows 10 is actually really good, It's basically built into the system, for good reason too. But it's worth having the extra protection on by default, especially if your running with no antivirus.
