You're going to gain very little in joining lacrosse. If it interests you and you're just doing it to increase physical activity without any goal in mind, sure, it'll help with consistency if you enjoy what you do. However don't expect to see much difference unless you're doing a lot of extra exercise outside of it.

Personally, I've never played a single match of lacrosse nor have I ever watched a lacrosse game broadcasted on TV, but I can say that I've been doing fitness for roughly 3 years now and it's given me some of the most profound benefits of anything I've ever done.
With that being said I could obviously just suggest for you to workout at the gym, but you could honestly just do both and quit whichever one you dislike.
