First coding language to learn?

Out of all the main coding languages, it probably is. I started with VB :3

I heard VB is horrible to start with.
You just waste time on a super simple language that is useless.

Even tho I do not agree on VB as a starting language, it is not useless. Unless you are saying that .NET Framework is useless (Which C# and VB use atm).

If you really have the patience, go for C++. It is used in almost every AAA game and is capable doing many things. If you want to learn to code for hacks, definitely give C++ a go! I'll warn you ahead of time though: it's extremely hard to get into if it's your first programming language. If you want to learn a relatively easy and powerful first language, I'd recommend Python, but it isn't really made for gaming (it does have object oriented programming capabilities, though).

VB .NET is not useless but is definitely not made for game programming in my opinion. I'd advise you not to get in-depth with it if your dealing with video games.

I started with VB6
NEVER wasted my time in a such bad way

Get a c/c++ compiler
Try what *ptr and &ptr output
Try to make a timer / file i/o
Learn snippets (not copy/paste)
Code for art, not for getting .exe files (coding is art, if you do not understand it, better go play MW3 on PS3 and burn your pc)

Start with C and go Upgrading when you are an expert in C u can do C++ and like this, with C++ you can do any hack you want...

I would say Java, It is good to learn the basics of programming then move to c++.

Java also is a good thing to learn for cross platform programming including mobile OSes such as android and bb(iOS want to be difficult).
