    The road to DAT converter

So this is my 4th day/night trying to get the DAT worlds from CrossFire to unity3d.
Today I made a BIG step so I decided to share it. I am certainly not the first to archive this but I might be the first bragging about it xD.

So what i managed to export so far are all the vertex info (position, normals, uvs, colors, etc). The only reason why i cant add the textures to the map is because the models have different indices (same model but multiple textures) and I am still trying to find those, after I do I am planning in importing in the lightmap... i have no idea how that will work out but lets find out!

So i got the informations about the indices but the index is bigger than the amount of textures .... which is wierd.

Alright so the empty spaces were for the lightmaps... of course i didnt think of that. But I managed to find were the textures should go!
Some white models since i don't have all the textures converted to tga yet, this was just a test

I dont know if its just luck but I did it!
LIGHT MAPS HERE I FUCKING COMEE!!

just for fun i converted another map to see if things were really working!
(again i didnt convert the textures so thats why everything is white )

    EDIT:

The first light map that i tried to "decode" was this one:

It doesnt look right! I have not tried it yet.. but it just doesn't seem right..
Maybe I am not putting the pixels in the right order?

    EDIT:

So the data was compressed... but I got it!

@BlenMiner what does this worth for? Will you be able to use the Unity models to make new games?

I meant... are you willing to take the time to make games? It's a really good job, but have you got any project for this or is it just a 'research'?

I am actually coding it now. But I don't know if I will ever finish this, not because of time or something like that but because it would require money to host the servers... and even if I had it there are always the copyright issues.

I was thinking in an offline game, -maybe- with some multiplayer funtions (so that you make lots of editions), but an online client sounds nice too, as much as harder.
That's true about the money needed, but with some luck, good fame and servers on 'strategic' spots on the world, you could make it worth, even maybe get a gain from it... I assume you already know about the law in your country, so that if you can or not 'rip-off' a game.

Not for me, I can't play single player games for too long.. i get bored on the first few missions.. but when playing multiplayer games is always cooler, you can play with friends, brag about your rank, show of your skills and shit
