Im playing on the windows store / game pass version of the game, apologies if im being dumb but does the windows version need the SSL bypass or is it just a steam thing, i used to do it for the steam version but i use the windows for my laptop.

Nope, just exempt it in the AppContainer loopback utility and you're good to go.
