    C++ is different than C#.

    Imo you should start with HTML (teaches you proper syntax), move to javascript (gets you into programming, for websites), then Python (easiest computer programming language to learn), then move on to w/e you like.

    There is a line of books entitled "SAMS Teach It Yourself in 24 hours" with topics such as HTML, JavaScript, Java, CSS, C, C++, C#, Python, Delphi, Perl, etc. They're pretty good. Also there is a tutorial/book that is free about Python programming entitled "Think Python". Google it

    Note: You shouldn't plan on learning a language in 24 hours, or even a month. Programming takes serious dedication and patience.

    Would you learn all/most of this stuff in an Australian public school? And what grade?

    Uhm, so you want to wait 20 years before you can code in your target language by learning 50 other "preparatory languages"?

    After learning a language and training your brain in that language. You should be able to learn any other language in few weeks. (Syntax, and OOP differences) No? ^^

    No. First at all, not every language is OO. It's not about the language, it's about the paradigm your implementing. Try to jump from c++ to haskell and then you tell me.

    And besides, one thing is know how to code and another is to do it right. If you learn the bad way you will prolly can't take that way of thinking out of your head when you wanna move on from language A to B.

    Brinuz is actually right. Once you've learned one programming language to a sufficient degree, consecutive languages (regardless of what they are) are considerably easier. You build up your "computer logic" in your first language, and that stays with you no matter what language you decide to code in. VB took me quite a while to get the hang of (was my first language) the languages I've learned after that have been thousands of times easier than that first experience was.

    Assembly Language FTW! nah jk i believe that you should not go into a language with the mindset of making hacks but just learning it first then thinking of ways you can use it to make hacks (I started with C++)
