Server Review: Desteria

Hey guys, I've decided to try and get into the MC section because of how much I play it.

Anyways, let's get on with it.

About 2 weeks ago I began playing this server with good intentions. It was fun, and it really challenges the ability to live off what you can find. Until you can scrounge up a bit of materials for some cash, you really have next to nothing. You start with some basic gear and a single diamond that is soulbound to you. After building up materials, the best way to make money seems to be automatic farms. That goes along the lines of cactus, watermelon, sugarcane, etc. You spend quite a bit of time building farms. I suggest myself to build large, tall cactus farms with hoppers at the bottom. Speaking of hoppers, they are actually rare. On this server, hoppers are an uncraftable item only available from voting and some events. A lot of players even put all of their money into hoppers. This server works on a level up and rank progression system, achieved with money. This is why farming cash crops is so important. You buy things with money, but you also level up with money. You can pick various classes, but what you get from leveling up is virtually the same. A new location for your class every 25 levels up to 99. A new kit or ability with each rank up. Basic stuff.

The staff members are most certainly far under par. Most of them are uneducated idiots who blurt out random gibberish about the rules to people who are doing nothing wrong. Just today actually I had a conversation with one named "TreeShark" I believe. Someone was calling their friend "feg". Now keep in mind, "feg". This staff member outright said he would mute this guy for hours on end if he said it again. I started arguing the fact that "feg" is a general term, and isn't a slur against those of the gay background. This guy came out and said that I shouldn't go against what he says and to never correct him, or else I would get a mute. Of course I didn't get muted because this kid knew he was wrong, but this really got to me. Also, many other staff members are either lazy and rarely do anything about any issues or problems. Some are dicks and will call you out on every little thing, and basically act like a neo-nazi. It's pretty horrendous actually. Some are very good, one in specific "qh" is a really nice guy. Many others are not.

Well, here's the rating.

Playability: 9/10, This server is one to come back to. It will not leave you bored with all the PVP and building to do.
Forum Appeal: 7/10, their forums are ok but very inactive and full of gibberish.
Staff Appeal: 5/10, like I said there are a lot of horrible, idiotic staff members. They need to be cleaned up.
Voting: 9/10, very good rewards including level 30, 5 diamonds, a large chunk of cash, and some possible rare items.

Overall: 7.5/10

If you like fun servers and shitty staff, this is the server for you. I mean, who doesn't like a combination of hard work with a bunch of idiots looking over your shoulder? All in all, come and play. It's worth it once you get past all the bad parts.
