Weapon Logs.

I PMed Derh.acker about this but he doesn't seem to know anything about it, so I'm asking the community.

Does anybody know how to derive actual damage to body parts from weapon logs? Specifically this one:

I also need to know how to use the information from the weapon arrays, specifically the damage offset and the range offset. In other words, how does the damage offset and the range offset change the damage over distance? (weapons do less damage as you move further away, but by how much?).

I'm the creator of the best Cross Fire weapon guides out there atm (although I will not admit who I am here). This information could potentially be very useful to me.

I know what you are talking about, so I'll try to help you to the best of my ability...

For the first answer you are wondering about; "Does anybody know how to derive actual damage to body parts from weapon logs?" ; could you explain what you mean on that more? Specify and elaborate more on what you mean?

This is tricky, sometimes you actually need to go in game and test it out yourself. Some results might be different if you test them out. Close range; basic.

Take an M4A1 rifle for example, I believe it does about 34 damage or so close range on the chest, over mid range it loses 1~2 damage, and over short range it loses 1~2 damage, again.

Let's take the MP5 SMG for example now; close range about 25ish... To the chest, over mid range it loses about 1-2 damage.

Machine Guns: M60 does about the same as M4A1, maybe more. So I'll say about 35 damage from close range on the chest, over mid range it loses 1~2 damage and finally over long range it loses 1~2 damage again.

Snipers: AWM, 100 damage on chest all range, nuff said. THOUGH, arms and legs, your aiming for a high 80 to low 90's as damage. That's the down point.

Pistols: More different than other guns. If you compare pistol damage differential with rifle, it's completely different. Pistols tend to lose MORE damage over range. Close range they can be a beast, but they start losing momentum at farther ranges. Let's take the D-Eagle for example(not quite sure about the damage) - close range, about 2 shots and they'll drop - most likely. Now when you get into farther ranges, you start getting a little skeptical about the damage; you notice that in like 4 shots they die in mid range, even though its a small difference compared to short range. Long range - even worse. Worse damage is worse over range.

Shotguns: You probably know it.

So basically the array of it all:

• Rifles: Over Short Range(5m~10m) - Stale damage. 35 dmg with M4.
• Rifles: Over Mid Range(15m~25m) - 1-2 damage loss on chest. 1-2 damage loss on arms, legs, everywhere else 'cept the head. Head always OHK all ranges.
• Rifles: Over Long Range(25m~???) - 1-2 damage loss on chest. 1-2 damage loss on arms, legs, everywhere else. Head = OHK.

The rest you should be able to understand.

Like basically, the shot arrays aren't hard to calculate, you just need the close range damage and the common sense. Close range damage, being the first to calculate your damage. Now, why I mentioned common sense; the ability to be able to calculate the range in game. Basically the meters. Obviously you don't know how far you are from an enemy... You don't know... Hence the reason you play the game with common sense here. As a gun reviewer, or as a player that wants to experiment with damage, it's your job to estimate how much meters you are from an enemy. And also some questions to ask yourself; "Am I within Short Range? Mid Range? Long Range?"

That's the main tricky part about all this. I don't personally like calculating how many meters I am, or if I'm close range, mid, or long range. If you're in a pub game, you can't calculate that stuff that quickly, unless you're bloody experienced.

Shotguns: BLANTLY SELF EXPLANATORY. I'm not even gonna lie, shotguns are the easiest stuff to calculate. Whether it'd be one shot shotguns(ex. Winchester, Winchester Scope), or the spread ones(Spas, XM Series, Jackhammer.) It's all common sense, once again.

ABOUT ARMS, LEGS, HANDS: The damage is going to be about 11~12 dmg lower than the CHEST DMG OF A WEAPON. It's just an estimate, not the accurate-like.

Yeah, that's the bottom line of it all... - Rifles, SMGs, MGs all carry the SAME TRAIT. They lose 1-2 damage within range. PISTOLS ARE DIFFERENT. They lose more damage over range. I'm talking about like 5~6, maybe even 10 damage over reach stanza'd range. REMEMBER, every new weapon released under the category(RIFLE, SMG, MG'S ETC) will probably carry the same traits as the other current released weapons. Damage is to be alike, damage chip off over range is to be alike.

Alright, that's just partially of what I took out of my head. I found some stuff on the z8 forum that may interest you... By the name of the OP of these threads it reminds me of you... What ever... Great thread is great. It is outdated though, I understand. That's why as people who review guns, if there is a time where we want to review a gun but we can't get our hands on the damage because someone on the internet hasn't posted a rather good estimate of the weapon, we go in game and test it out for ourselves. As long as you know the close range damage as an estimate and know the "gun-style"(semi automatic, etc. Don't know the correct term lol) - then it should be walk in the part for you.

I just want to ensure that the damage that I calculated is correct and I want to know the equation for calculating it to check all my damages.

I realize you took your time to reply to my post, however I believe you underestimated me and unfortunately I can't really use any of the information you've given me.

So I'll restate my question, is there any way to calculate damage done in-game using a weapons log?

I think that you can't work out how many damage a weapon does with that information .
Coders use a Weapon Log so they can make Weapon Hacks .

There should be a way to derive it, but we need to know more of the variables, I was hoping that people that know something about the weapon logs would know what those variables are, or at least how to find them.

I've seen a wiki site that someone on these forums made but I don't remember where it was located or who I got it from. I PMed him and he never replied

The wiki site had what looked like the exact weight of a weapon in the form of percentages, it had the range of the weapon (no idea how that's used), it had the damage of the weapon, and it had what you needed to multiply the damage by to get the damage for each body part.

If he answered my questions it would be awesome, however he hasn't so I'm still hoping that somebody else that goes on the forums knows how to do it.

Okay .

You need to get the gun damage first .
Since you gave me the MP5 as an example let me give you the MP5 as an example too .
The MP5 Damage is 76.
The Headshot value is 1.2 .
The Chest value is 0.36.
The Stomach value is 0.3.
The Leg value is 0.2 .

If you want to know the Headshot damage simply do 1.2 x the Damage of the gun .
In this case :
1.2 x 76 = 91.2
You should round it than .
It won't be the exact , just an estimate .

I figured some of it out.

TrollerCoaster seemed to have taken a weapon log like this one:

and then written down the range and the damage shown from them. He then multiplied the damage at the specified range by some variable (it slightly changes depending which weapon you look at on his wiki), and that shows what damage is done to each body part.

I don't know how he found out:

what to multiply the damage by
what the range is at in meters
how he found out the weight of weapons (the mobility)
how he found out the rounds per minute
how he found out the fire time

He did a weapon log via C++. Then he is able to see damage, range, reload time etc

Would it be possible for someone to do a weapon log for me that includes (for each weapon):

-What to multiply the damages by for each body part
-What the damages are for each weapon
-The range for each weapon
-The weight for each weapon
-The rounds per minute
-The rounds per second
-The fire time (time it takes to shoot 1 bullet)
-The reload time
-The switch time (time it takes to switch weapons (for example: i have the desert eagle out, once I press 1 how long is it until I can start shooting my primary?))
-The damage reduction over range
-What the range is in meters

If someone could answer all that it would be incredibly useful to me, and in turn, everyone that sees my guides and/or reviews.
