I am in the AirBnb business, and it is a scummy move. This is potentailly a family's source of income, and you are trying to scam them out of it. Regardless, you getting a refund of $3500 will not work, and if for some reason it does, the owner will most likely make up shit of something you broke, send pictures to support, and they will auto charge you more than what the fix is worth.

Additionally, after doing such dispute, your Airbnb information will be flagged, and making it very hard for you to book the next rent, as well as, most are affiliated with hotels, which will also see this history.

is the airbnb account in the same name as the card? if so change it for future reservations and always file a not autorized

for now just say something like you lost power for a few days or you suffered some kind of loss i have done it before and never had issues. make sure to request money in resoultion center before you do a chargeback with your bank so it looks like you "tried" to resolve it with them...

airbnb refunds are easy, chargebacks for airbnb are easy.

make sure not to refund till after you leave. i would wait till after 14 days so they cant leave a bad review since you have 60 days from your bank and 180 from paypal to dispute a purchese

make sure you dont leave a reivew though and if you do have it be negative so it enforces your case.

Why not just order a macbook to the airbnb and refund that. Make just as much.

refunding airbnb is pretty retarded, they will most likely try their hardest to take action against you because that is a personal income and not a company. you can also get a really bad airbnb review on your account that will pretty much make every other airbnb not ever allow you to stay at their place. and you already said it yourself, your banks know that you are in the location and trying to chargeback/claim unauthorized in the SAME location is pretty much a guaranteed fail. even though you paid through paypal, they will contact your bank and issue it authorized.

you're gonna waste your time, the airbnb host's resources, and you could possibly get a shit rating on airbnb which will make it impossible for you to stay at another place.
