So hi mpgh , today i finally finished buiding my new computer , but a computer that costed me 0$
Im just a little 16 yo french kid and my mom doesn't want to spend money on a Gaming computer , so im left with a laptop ( i hate laptops ) that i got for free at school
its called the "POP" , basically you get a free computer running on ubuntu with a locked bios so you can work with it at your house ( obviously i cracked the bios and installed windows on it )
Basically what i do sometimes is get out to the town and try to find some PC's that peopole throws away , i got ask to their door if they do have an old computer , or i look into some grabage piles
i already built some computers from scratch and recovered parts , but they were alway shitty as fuck ( like 80 GB of HDD , 512 MB or ram , with no grpahics card and running on XP )
But later i found enought parts to make a decent computer ( still shitty )
Here is what i ended up with :
http://valid.x86.fr/etu8i3 < Here is the precise references of the parts
Nvidia GeForce 210 ( yes this does exist )
8GB of DDR3 Running at 655 MHZ ( cuz this random motherboard only have dual channel slots , and i use two different RAM sticks yolo )
Intel Pentium 3GHZ ( 2 cores )
Some random Hitachi 500GB HDD at 7200 Rotations/min + another 320 GB HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate crac.... i mean activated
#Pure gaming PC case
And yes 1 ram stick actually does have glowing leds on it ( it is the Nanya ram stick , you can't see it but the stick itself is black/gold )
No this is not dust or whatever , this is anti-rust , cuz i live close to the beach , the air is salty as hell and computer always get rusty as fuck after 1 month
still really far from a gaming computer , but really decent for a thing where i didn't used any money on it
So i want to know if some popole there have done the same thing , if im not the only one , and what you guys think about it .
EDIT : I just reviewed the computer to know the aproximative price of all the stuff into this PC and i got a really big suprise! ; my motherboard it is the intel DH61HO wich is not a consumer grade motherboard , and costs 171$ and My hitachi HDD costs 230$
I didn't expected to see that i had parts with a so high value on my PC <.<
If this computer was new this would be it's aproximative value : 474$ ( the ram sticks , the second HDD and the case are unknown so for all of them you can add about 100 - 20$ to the value witch give us about 600 $ )
