I'm using an iPhone 6s for about a year now and I never had to change my case / my glass screen protector and I always drop my phone somehow. You don't need to invest more than $20 and you should get an amazing case that would hold strong for a long, long time.

iphones are not that delicate as they are advertised to be. The X is but the others are not. You just to have common sense and protect it if you want to keep it in a good condition
