I've been browsing the interwebs, and have come across many different threads on many different sites with new predictions and calculations of when the next XBL Ban Wave will take place.
Btw, a ban wave is very self-explained. Bans in waves. Nobody is sure how MS knows if your console is modded, but it is certain they have done it before. You might want to check ALL your resources of where you download your games. Microsoft does have connection to the Interwebs (YES! I know! Amazing!) and can possibly be putting targetting games out there as bait. (mine should be 100% fine. I know this for a fact, since I've been pirating since the 360's practically came out. If anything does happen, I'll be sure to post a red flag on certain downloads be it from mine or someone else to warn from downloading.)
Alright, on with the dates.
Most predictions are with the new game, Halo: Reach. It will probably be a new Wave game, not sure though, so be prepared to have to update your flashed firmware. But, with these new waves, most rips won't be 100% successful, so PLEASE, be CAREFUL with who you download from. I don't want any of my x360 hacker-friends getting banned. Makes XBL extremely FUCKIN boring.
Also, another possible date is when the gay-as-shit Kinect hardware and games come out. More than likely there will be a new Dashboard update, so thats a 85% chance of new Wave games. (Ya know, like right now its Wave 6. It will be Wave 7.) But if you want something crazy, like Pineapple, then FUCK YOU.
MSFT has the clear advantage:
They could be behind some of the games we verfied.
They have access to the SAME forums, info re: stealthing/patching programs etc., Torrent communities, and overall hacking information that we do- it's the WORLD WIDE WEB PEOPLE! LOL!
They have close relationships with every company they buy hardware from to mfg the 360's w/. Which means, MSFT should have firmware code of every peice of hardware that goes into the 360 as a reference. With that info, they can easily include it into a system scan for authenticity. If your particular disc drive does not have the correct firmware for it's make/model- BANNED!
XBL system updates could re-write or reset your system in a heartbeat when you click accept! Apple does this regularly with iPhone updates. if you're Jail-broken, you avoid updating iPhone firmware at all costs because Apple's firmware will scan the iPhone, check it for any unwarranted changes, and boom- reset it or BRICK it all together rendering it useless!
Now, with many "predictions" out there, its guesstimated that most banwaves will last about 1-3 weeks, being 3 weeks at the most. So, unless you're one of those die-hard, have-to-play-online-else-die-of-loss-of-fap-time players, stay the fuck off live and make sure its completely disconnected. There are no gaurantees you will survive this one. Shit, I may not. And unless the new 360's get firmware released by iXtreme, then FUCK IT, I'll buy a cheap-ass used one from GameStop and flash it.
