How to see how many users are running your program?

So i was wondering if there was a way to see how many users were running your program and possibly whos running it(by username or IP). I honestly don't know if this is possible, however if it is i would appreciate help with it

MySQL.

When a user installs the program, it would add the IP of the user to a database with two tables (IP, running).
When the user runs the program it changes the table "running" to 1, and on closing it changes it to 0.

It should be quite easy with php :/.

or u can use a ftp server and for each time you load up the program it downloads a text file from the server and adds 1 to it. When you close the program it removes 1 from the value and upload the file.

why not? you can use mysql to input the 1/0 and use php to find how many people are online by finding the number of 1's / 0's

I may try to figure out something later, if it's working, I'll release it,mhmkay?

Yeah I know, I suggested a MySQL option /fp

I was saying the "download a text file and change it's text from 0 to 1 then back to 0 and then reupload" option wouldn't work. Also, there is no need to use PHP in conjunction with MySQL to find the number of 1's, MySQL has a COUNT function.

I got a Idea

Make some webpage, on some free hosting site.

Put google analytics on it.

Put a web browser hidden in your program, on form load navigate it to your page.

check you google analytics and it will show you how many people visit the website for how long, it doesn't give you IP address's but it tell you how long people use it and how many people....

It counts as another view if they restart the program....It would work if you just want to see how popular the program is.

I'm going to work on a MySQL + PHP way now. If I get it working properly, I'll release it here :P

The PHP part is fully done, the VB part isn't working as good as it's supposed 2 be tho
