[Discuss] Remove Discontinued Items?
I know Jagex probably won't remove the Discontinued Items, but it's an interesting subject to discuss. Jagex should have made them untradeable from the beginning.
The Problem:
- The prices will continue to rise over the years, and players who were lucky enough to receive one or more at the time have a huge advantage now, for the 1Bil worth of their P'Hat they could easily gain some 99's while other people have to 'work' for it.
And P'Hats for example can be sold for over $1000 nowadays...
What if Runescape still exists in 10 years, and some lucky player happens to posses the very last Partyhat in Runescape? Yes, we all know, it could be sold for thousands of dollars. :/
(Flawed) Solutions:
- Remove all Discontinued Items from Runescape. The solution itself would take away the problem, but it would create a new problem:
Owners of Discontinued Items would start riots, rage and quit.
- Replace all Discontinued Items for GP (G.E. Market Price).
This way Jagex would make it up to players who own a precious Discontinued Item.
Problem: The Runescape Economy would crash when a few Trillion GP would suddenly flow into Runescape. Also, if someone for example owns a P'Hat in every Colour, he would have around 7.5Bil GP, while the max GP you can hold is a little over 2Bil GP...
The 'Solution':
- Make all Discontinued Items untradeable. This way people could still 'showoff' with their even rarer Discontinued Item, so they still have where they paid for. (This would also reduce the RWT a bit)
