This morning(5/31) Call of duty has updated there Facebook page with the following info
NOTE: SOME OF THESE FEATURES WILL BE PAY FOR PLAY FOR A SO FAR UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT
checking the website available for beta signup it looks to be some sort of statistics keeper almost identical to Bungie.net's Halo account statistics there is no word yet on if there is a price for this service like previously speculated but this will be updated as information becomes available. This is also been confirmed for a Website based service.
From Watching the video on the website entitled The Legend of Karl Call of Duty Elite will be a statistic counter,Social network, Tournament, and Map Studyingin detail below
CAREER:
Career will be the Statistic's tracker you will sync your xbox live / Playstation network account to Callofduty.com and you will be able to see your hit tracker as to where you hit your opponents body, Percentage of your kill death ratio and includes much more in depth statistics then on the game itself (i.e. Black ops PLayer card. This will be similer to what callofduty.com had for CoD:WaW.
Connect:
This is the social network part of call of duty elite,in this section you will be able to chat, join "Groups" with your friends based on anything you want. there is a Clan Tab for gaming with your clan that you can make logos for insite and Strategy witch will be explained more in the Improve section.
Compete:
This section will be for Clan Battles and Tournaments.Users will be able to enter there clans and selfs in clan based tournaments or Prize singles tournaments the video stays on this tab for a majority of the video witch you can assume will be a major part of the system.
Improve:
This part of Elite will be for study on maps,guns etc. here you can look at statistics for past single games including the heat map to show on what parts of the maps were very active and busy and what areas were not. here you can edit your classes and go over strategy for Maps and or game tactics.
