Even has basic code examples.

I'd rather find someone knowledgeable and go back and forth one on one rather than miscellaneous input here and there. I've obviously looked up some examples and what not, but still am having some problems.

Selection sort is one of the easiest algorithms out there. Pay more attention to the class next time tho.
