Microsoft Charges

Hello,

So my roommates hotmail account was hacked which he didn't really care about except for his xbox live which had a new 12 month on it plus a bunch of DLC. Anyways he sent in a few email requests which were no help, he then decided to call Microsoft for help. After talking to some guy from India for 30 mins and downloading some program the tech support guy informs him that he was "hacked" and that if he wanted his account back that he would need to pay Microsoft $120 to wipe his computer so they can then start the recovery process. Am I the only one that thinks that this is absolutely ridiculous? It's just an email account with a gamertag and they want to completely wipe his computer to give it back to him. Don't forget your password guys, Microsoft will take anything as a chance to make money.

Thats why I don't have xbox, srsly paying to play online with friends. pfft I'll stick with my ps3.

Yeah our friends got us to get xboxs which we regret now, switching to playstation when the next gens are released for sure.

Well I didn't know that they charge you. How come you didn't just tell them that you forgot your password and get it back?

He did but they had to verify his identity and apparently they found evidence on his mac that he had been to a malicious website that took his account. He hasnt even logged into his hotmail on his new iMac so I don't see how a website could have taken it. In the past year it has only been used for Xbl.

Lol. It was most likely a company doing a type of scam, not microsoft. Microsoft doesn't even wipe your computer. That is if you called the xbox portion of microsoft. If you did, and you let some guy talk you into downloading some program that allows him remote access of you computer (Like teamviewer) Then You might want to scan your computer for viruses. Cause they did the same thing to me LOOOONG time ago. xD Dirty little curry suckin bastards.

Your fault that you got your account hacked, now they charge for a reason. You're supposed to be keep your shit a secret like they told you a million times, now if you want to get it back you have to pay for being a jackass the first time. PS3 ftw.

If you downloaded an application, I would think that your friend called the wrong company

PS4's are gonna make you pay to get online also. + This is a huge scam. Maybe your call was rerouted.
