I don't see any point using visual studio at all

It's heavy, slow, bugged, and paying...

The 2017 community edition is free of charge, memory wise it sits at about the same level as having google chrome open(for a fairly large project). It's not CPU intensive until you start building the projects so I'm not sure where you're experiencing slowness. It's pretty lightweight for the amount of features it offers. And you must be doing something seriously wrong if you think it's buggy.
