DTX files all grey! (help)

ok, I have been modding for a while, I know all the pros make noob mistakes, but I can't get this dang thing viewable. I know it's a .dtx file, and I have tried converting to lithtech, which you dont have to do to use dtx view, only if youre gunna use dedit, tried other dtx files from CA to see if its my viewer, and they show up, but these 2 , converted to lithtech, show a size of 22kb,and 341 kb, but when u try to open its all grey, go to dedit and try to open them , and it says 0x0kb, and does the black and white checker thing, like I forgot to convert it before I moved it.... IDK but anyone wants to try im gunna upload them, thanks for lookin.was gunna put in help , but its more of a mod issue than a help issue.
