Editing DTX Files?

Is there any way that u cud edit DTX files without using photoshop?

if there is a way that u kno of
then plzz tell me

u can use paint.net its a free imaged editing program and its legit. well at least it was free when i got it, im pretty sure its still free but

GIMP 2 I think Is the best to use, It's what I use for my mods.
