Get The New iPhone?

for my 17th birthday my parents want to get me the new iphone, should they. what i mean is that, is it worth the $400 or is there a better phone like it out right now? or should i have them put the 400 to a different gift?

the 32 gig one with AT&T makes it only cost 199. but you cant upgrade for another 2 years.
you could take the phone +200 bucks cash in hand.
