Help with my FPS.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but not sure where to post this. I just purchased left 4 dead over steam, and it's running at about 10-12 fps. I set all graphic settings to minimum, and resolution to minimum. After about 2 hours of trying to get it up, I'm posting on here for any help. Downloaded gamebooster, using that got me up to a whole 15!! Lol. Disabled antivirus, did virus scan, malware scan, spyware (etc.). Defragged computer, ran CCleaner about 4 times. Ran it in XP and Vista compatibility mode. So, if there's anything im missing please tell me. Thank you. Also, heres system spec. Well above minimum.

Windows 7
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz
6 GB ram
GeForce GTX 260M
Realtek High Definition Audio
335.6 GB Free space

disable Aero theme for less lag.

Blah.. i should go to sleep -.- Jail, your sig made me think an actual bug was on my screen. It took me about 5 seconds of tryin to shoo it off before i realised. But thank you, turned that off.

Aero alone takes up about 50MB of RAM on your graphics card.

didnt do the one thing you shouldve
opened up your driver software for your GPU to make sure its set up right
its obviously a problem with the card so that wouldve made sense

Are you running a laptop?

its a GTX 260M i think the M is a Laptop version so i think his on a laptop yeah
its probably the processor. or else you got viruses making it slow?

put everythink

(in game AND in your monitor) on lowest quality.. or check the TUT in AVA TUT section

oh Yay. Woke up to find the advanced system care pro scan finished. Restarted it like it asked. And now it's stuck on blue screen of death. Happy days. Asus sucks. It's broke about 4 times in the past 2 years. One of which they had to replace the entire computer. Thank god for warranties. -.- I dont know if I'll even repair it this time. Had to buy a new charger for it a week ago, since their chargers suck. 3rd time I've had to replace it.

Eh, if you really want to play you can always try installing a new OS (preferably XP), removing all the crappy programs and unnecessary things, installing the latest DirectX, the latest drivers and then try to run the game after GameBooster / Smartclose.
