Crossfire obviously has to be able to read the rez files to use them, so in theory would it be possible for some leet pro dude to **lol at the stupid adjectives** reverse engineer whatever reads the rez files if I'm correct about it's existence, I might be way off here? and create something to open the rez files
don't flame me, just answer my question and close the thread, I'm just genuinely curious
i dont think its possible

I've seen 1 or 2 threads about viewing player models although i havent seen any altered perhaps it is possible.
From the many CF hackers and modders I've known,I've heard that it's impossible to rez mod or change them in anyway, but I've seen several threads that say otherwise.Try searching throughout this section.I'm pretty sure their was a thread about a SPOP's player model being viewed in a rez viewing program but i cant remember the title of the thread .
We can't say it's impossible because we have no proof

Well, I know it's possible to mod you weapons without rez modding, obviously, there are text strings you can edit to switch around damage, model, and texture, but thats not true rez modding, obviously, as it's not even permant it cannot be a rez mod, simply a mem editing hack

You are CE god
Their use to be rez mods although that was a while back.
it's possible but i don't know how, i gonna search and i say if i find something
I remember David claimed to have been able to unpack these .REZ files and actually alter their texture and mesh , I also know Alen (Coeus) is always mumbling something about using a specific program to test this out - And these are two users that I respect highly so, I think it's possible we are just not looking at it in the correct manner. If you want to know more I'd contact them.
winrez lt studio

Liar, winrez doesn't open these, there have been several threads on it, and I've tried it at least five times, they're packed differently, don't bullshit bro
Sorry to bump but if you can get me an unpacked crossfire.exe i'll take a peek and take a stab at it
well I successfully opened cf rez.. o_o
I went at this for about a month, though it is possible to open, I haven't found a program to do so. ,and believe me , I know where to look,. My results at last attempt were as follows, in case you decide to continue this , what feels like a pointless endeavor. Winrez, Rezextract, DragonUnpacker, Lithrez, DO NOT WORK, though they work for Combat Arms , this game was modeled under the new Lithtech engine, which the tools to edit have not been publicly released,..... yet. The only positive results I have are; There is a program that will edit hex strings, but nearly impossible to know what you are changing if you dont know how to read strings. Also , there is a road I havent been able to explore, I dont know anyone with a MAC,. There is a program call EV NOVA or Escape Velocity Nova, a space game, which claims to have a plugin that allows editing of .REZ extensions , and dont forget, even after u edit, the majority of my last edits, were detected by CF as being " REZ FILE CHANGED" closing....... Hope this helps tdct , you have given us so much, nice to be able to return a small bit.

Well thank you, if it doesn't work, I still think it's possible to reverse engineer crossfire to open the rez files, I know it's possible to extract them while in game, but you can't recompile them, so it's pointless, another problem is even IF you could open them, how would you save the changes it's nearly a lost cause, we need someone to leek a program that can open and close them
