****EDIT*** Freakin Shit... I posted this in the wrong section accidentally. Could you move this, Bull3T? Thanks..
Gosh Im retarded....
Step 1. Start with a white-backgrounded 100x100 avatar
Step 2. Use The Filter->Render->Clouds option
Step 3. Select The Filters->Pixelate->Mosaic command. Set the tile size to 8.
Step 4. Emboss this image by going to Filter->Stylize->Emboss option. Leave it at the default settings.
Step 5. Hit [ctrl+I] to invert the colors of this image.
Step 6. Use Filter->Stylize->Find Edges.
Step 7. Invert the colors of the sig Again.
Step 8. Use the Image->Adjustments->Curves console to modify the image. To do this, Click and hold NEAR (not touching) the bottom of the curve, and drag it straight up. You will know you have done it right if you see a light pattern emerging from the once-black image.
Make sure that there is about 1/2 square of room from the left side of the top, to the point where you clicked. The rest should be a level line across the top.
Step 9. Hit [ctrl+B] to acces the Color balance menu. Select Midtones, and drag the top slider bar to the end that says "Cyan".Now, Select 'Highlights', and drag the middle slider bar to the side that says 'Green'.
You should now have an image with a black background, and a greenish circuit-like pattern, But We're not finished yet.
Step 10. Change the Brightness/contrast to suit your tastes.
Step 11. Use Filter->Stylize->Glowing Edges command. Use the default settings for this effect, and click OK.
You should now have a green and Purple-ish Circuitboard like background perfect for your tech-themed avatar.
I'll try this now Jackal. It's good to see you posting while on vacation.
