What does make a game choppy?

By injecting code into directx to filter out some huge graphics can you make a game less choppy?

What does make a game choppy?

1.Game is choppy if the lights and shadows are on high quality
2.Many entities loaded = laggs
3.A bunch of lighting effects
4.Etc..

1.You can't decrease the number of entities, shadows, lights etc externally

How could you externally decrease the number of lights and shadows if there is no option in a game. How could you decrease the number of entities being loaded and how could you decrease the number of lightning effects externally, aswell?

and as horatio sayed its impossible if there is no option ingame.

explications : because if there is no options ingame then it means that the game is made this way and so is not modifiable... if it would be an option then you could make a hack or something to change it but since its not an option ingame then... no. not possible...

No. I want you to create a program which makes modern games playable on older computers at an acceptable framerate by decreasing the game's quality in realtime.

If you inject a dll and get access to the d3d device you can use SetRenderState(D3DRS_LIGHTING, FALSE); in a DrawIndexedPrimitive hook to disable lighting

Thanks. I know a bit or two about visual basic express. Do you have a tutorial for this programming language to do exactly that from scratch?
