I looked at the comparison charts for the M14 and the K2.. and the M14 is friggin scary. However, the M14 was lacking badly in fire rate. Also, just out of no particular reason, the M14 battle rifle (yep. It's a proper battle rifle) is a battle rifle because it uses the full 7.62x51mm round. It's got a standard working parts layout with the magazine in front of the grip and has a long barrel. And it would have to have semi-automatic firing modes because in Vietnam when they used it, the soldiers couldn't actually control a fully automatic M14 really well. The 7.62x51mm round was too powerful.
Also, is there are particular cut-off in trading fire rate for power / accuracy and vice versa ?
