The more points you get in dungeons, means... the more XP you will receive from the dungeon. 
If you execute combos correctly with normal hits, and skills; it will give extra points.
As does breaking the mobs shields, some mobs have Super Armor which is the yellow bar beneath their HP, it also helps gain more points.
If you 1 hit mobs, they give plus extra exp and points.
Avoiding damage is also a plus,

TIP:Even though, you may like to solo dungeons, if you do higher level dungeons with a full party, you use less ABP/FTG/Blessing. Which means in the long run, you'll gain more exp from it.
The ranking you receive at the end of dungeons, actually have benefits;
- SSS stages gives 35% extra exp.
- SS stages gives 20% extra exp.
- S stage gives 10% extra exp.
- A stage gives 0% extra exp.
- Failed Stages gives only the exp you get for each mob killed.
