Personally I think they exist due to the numerous amount of sightings and also the fact that we haven't even come close to exploring even 10% of space. We don't know what's out there and the technology they possess probably outclasses ours.

I believe there is life somewhere out there.

Doesn't have to be more intelligent than humans.
