The hold of my heart stormed by your invading army,
With messages of seduction and plans of domination you won my allegiance,
I stepped down, and offered a throne by my side,
You offered a security like my fort had never known,
Within these walls, I was mighty, strong and unbreakable,
I commanded the garrison with a confidence that was once away in foreign lands I could never explore alone,
You held all the vessels, and you had the navigation,
The wondrous lands you chose to share had me captivated and in awe,
I bowed to you and offered my kingdom as your playground,
All was settled amongst my lands, and the joy ran faster than I could comprehend,
All was set for many moons to come, just the greatest test to pass,
But time proved to be a worthy foe, bringing weapons that before the world had never known.
The fortress walls slowly began to crack and crumble,
The stocks of happiness and wonderment we had worked so hard to save slowly became depleted,
I thought the fight was easy, but it proved so much more than hard,
There seemed to be an insider feeding the onslaught but alas, could not be found.
So the land of glory, hope and dreams I once knew now stands desolate, barren and broken.
This I coped with with you still on my throne, but as I turn to gaze upon your face, only then I see, the whole time the insider I thought we faced bravely together...... Was you.
