I kinda felt that it would be delayed. As a titular and spiritual successor to both Bioshock and System Shock it has the aura of a Blizzard release. Irrational were always going to delay it if there was any chance of it not being perfect.
Better delay it then release and unfinished game

Every year is quite a year for games... there's at least one release per year that EVERYONE can look forward to..

Well this year was going to be a twilight year for games. But now not so much with Bio pushed back.
I mean you had Diablo 3, Bioshock Infinite, ACIII, Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution, GTA V, Crysis 3, DOTA 2, FFVXIII, CS:GO, ARMA 3, Guild Wars 2, Metro Last Light, Torchlight 2 and Dishonoured.
Off the top of my head, next year will have BS:I, Prey 2, RS: Patriots and SimCity. That's it off the top of my head.
