You can get banned for skinning, as long as you use it properly nothing will happen.
Its not like u get banned when a patch comes, just when people notice like.. you removed threes or something to see people better (what I did :P).
The best thing you could mod is a scope for your sniper.. I removed all the black so its way easier to see people when your unzoomed.
