The only possible explanation for the restart at login would be that you have some corrupted files. To repair you would have to use the Windows CD that comes with your computer.
At the Welcome to Setup screen, press R to select the repair option.
You will have to enter the Administrator password - if none, just press <Enter>.
At the recovery console - type chkdsk c: /r (if C: is the drive you want to check) > press <Enter>.
When the disk check is done:
Type Exit > press <Enter>.
Take the Windows disc out and reboot.
Or press f8 while your comp is starting and run windows in safe mode command prompt only
and on the first link type chkdsk /r
That may work for you to. Id try the 2nd method before the first.
