If you want to talk about who started rap then u need to look further back like to Run DMC, Grand Master Flash, and such. Today's rap has much more of a hip-hop influance on it. As for Gangster Rap look no further than N.W.A or Death Row. I myself being from Louisiana prefer Master P, Lil Wayne,Ca$h Money, Juvenile, Mystical, and so on.
