Hey I am just wondering, is there a way to UN-merge a piece, after you have already merged the layers together? Never really messed around with it much, so I don't know. I wanted to go back and re-do the text on my first siggy. Thanks guys 
Ctrl+Z -or- Ctrl+Alt+Z

Once you merge you can't get it back unless you undo it.
