So, you know that a private server is hosting a server hexing codes from the original game. So this one works like this:
First: Knowing about your server
Maybe you've heard about a release of a new RotMG private server made by your friend. Well, the private server is a very high responsability, because when people just wants to get in all the day 24/7 the server owner must have the server up all the time, but that's not always possible as it remains very much time. IF YOU KNOW THAT YOUR FRIEND IS HOSTING FOR YOU AND HIM, STAY INFORMED ABOUT WHEN HE IS OPENING IT, DON'T JUST SPAM HIM TO MAKE IT ONLINE.
Second: Caring your server
When you get familiar with your private server you start taking care of it, just like it where your little brother, but this one is more important, as needs attention ALL the time. Some of the players that submits an account in your private server are mostly like trolling only inside, so you start telling them to go. As long as you know about a bug you try to fix it and fix. Even implementations of items, maps and classes it's very necessary to make the difference between the other servers. TAKING CARE OF A PRIVATE SERVER IS A HIGH RESPONSABILITY, SO TAKE THAT IN MIND.
Third (and last): Supporting your server
As sayd before, your server needs to have very good care. One of the major mistakes of people is that they miss when to fix the bugs that it has. THIS is the only thing that matters: The private server must stay stable for every player that joins.

You don't even know the meaning of the "private server" words (put together, of course).
Even the word "lore" is used with the wrong meaning.
