Operation: Overdose

SITREP: The physiological stress and fatigue caused by the ongoing war has left soldiers deserting in droves and showing a lack of respect for their superior officers. In a controversial step to boost mercenary morale, high ranking officers authorized development of a stamina drug using a promising new organic sample. When the final product was being prepared for mass production, the first and only surviving test subject had an abnormal and untested dosage enter their bloodstream. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, but shortly thereafter, the local security response team sent transmissions warning of a severe physical threat and potential outbreak situation. Before the transmissions were abruptly terminated, they alluded to the remainder of the drug sample left intact in the research center. The research center has been shut down by the Automatic Quarantine System, and an infiltration mission by Special Forces has been called upon in order to retrieve the drug sample.


New Map: Overdose
The lab facility of Lab3, a NEXEMIS affiliate, has been shut down by the Automatic Quarantine System in an effort to control the spreading of an infectious virus. Retrieve the drug sample from the lab, but beware of biological contaminants.



New Mode: Quarantine

At the beginning of the game, one or more players will be randomly selected as a Host Infection.


Infected Team: Your mission is to infect as many humans as possible. Hit a human with a melee attack in order to infect them. Infect all humans to win the mission.

Human Team: Your mission is to survive. You survive either when the mission timer runs out or you destroy all of the Infected.


A gift for new users! Every player who creates a character for the first time will receive a 7-day Starter Package in their inbox, complements of Central Command. This package includes:

New Arms Permitted Options:
-- Shotguns Only

Map Changes:
-- One Man Army added to Showdown
-- Capture the Flag added to Brushwood

Item Fixes:
-- Heartbeat Detector / Satellite Scanner no longer have abnormal battery drain/use if a teammate has a Heartbeat Detector / Satellite Scanner equipped.
-- Heartbeat Sensor functions again.
-- Female Specialist Viper has had her speed and stamina adjusted to their intended amounts.
-- Descriptions for the M1911 Knight’s Gold, M1911 Silver, Desert Eagle Gold and Desert Eagle Black have been updated.


Minor Functionality Issues:
-- Idle Timer adjusted to 2 minutes in game rooms.
-- First Anniversary Bandana now displays correctly on female characters.


Balancing:
-- Satellite Scanner has been balanced to alert the opposing team that it has been activated, and does not recharge after respawn.
-- Nutshot has been changed so that it is no longer a one hit kill. You now obtain a Nutshot when your killing shot hits a male character in the nuts.
-- HDS-4 Reflex Sight aiming bonus has been increased to 5%.


Bug Fixes:
-- Curse Filter fixed in the lobby.
-- The Left and Right arrow keys can now be assigned to the game controls.
-- GM Impersonation and Red Text issue in the Server Lobby has been fully addressed.
-- Vote Kick – UI no longer remains active and blocks the screen.
-- In-Game: Areas where vulnerable to clipping or glitching through walls or assets in Warhead, Gray Hammer, and Rattlesnake have been fixed
-- Power Surge – Restricted area on top of a warehouse at Bravo Spawn can no longer be accessed.
-- Rattlesnake – You can no longer climb on top of the warehouse and hide in restricted areas of the battlefield.
-- Modifications on the L96A1, K1A and M14 should now appear correctly for Scorpion.
-- Total clan EXP needed to rank up is now displayed in the clan tab (as opposed to the remaining amount needed).

Combat Arms will be going through a content update on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 beginning at 11:59pm PDT.
