Using client on a new version of optifine?

I'm working on a client and I started with decompiling an early jar with optifine installed. Since there has been newer optifine releases.

Can I just put the client class files onto a new optifine jar or does it require the one I decompiled?

No I've tried that and it didn't read it. I think you'll need magic launcher or a mod launcher. I think minecraft integrated something like that into theirs but I haven't put enough time in the launcher to actually figure out how to do it.

Alright, I have the right optifine but I was just wondering if it was fine to use it on the latest ones. thanks though
