If its a desktop unplug it. If its a laptop take the battery out. Just make sure theres no electricity going through your comp and you should be fine

THis is my opinion too ^^
Having the battery out of it doesn't make it resist electricity. Don't plug things into the wall if your power goes out because you may get a surge. It wouldn't just get "fried" because there's lightning outside.

^ yup With MY computer.
If you get a power strip with over voltage protection it should be fine.
Also make sure you're grounded.
If you value your PC though, you should turn it off.
