.DAT to .OBJ

was a tutorial ever released to convert .DAT files? i want to open them in 3ds max. I already tried converting deathroom.dat to .obj with oolite but when i opened the obj in 3ds said there was nothing to import. i know its been done nut after 3 hours of searching i came up with nothing. i know -DeathCode- over in the tutorial section was going to release one but that in 2012 and he provided a oilrig map already in .obj and i could open it just fine in 3ds

I made a tool capable of importing DAT files to Unity with uv's and lightmaps.
