There's many functions the game uses to relay information.
You could probably even edit the outgoing packet buffer right before CL_Netchan_TransmitNextFragment() is called.
Or using IAT hooking. VAC scans most commonly hooked places and publicly released information.
Make something original and it'll remain undetected. And avoid writing to the .text section.
